More often than not, any working current computer, laptop or LCD monitor will be eligible for cash reimbursement.
Why is it important to dispose unwanted IT equipment properly?
Unwanted IT equipment is categorized as e-waste or hard waste, and therefore decomposes at an incredibly slow rate. Additionally, such equipment can emit harmful gases, chemicals, etc, so to ensure this doesn’t occur, all items must be recycled in accordance with ISO14001 standards.
Can you tell me more about your disposal and recycling process?
- Our disposal and recycling process consists of the following break-down:
- Metals: are 100% recyclable and are re-smelted and re-manufactured for use
- Glass: is 99% recyclable and can be used to make globes, tubes, etc..
- Plastics: are recycled and lead is extracted by smelting, and then re-used
- Circuit boards: are able to be refined
- Such toxins that arise from this equipment thru an acid bath (i.e. metal resurfacing) is extracted via fume hoods
The main purpose is that equipment is stripped apart, i.e. plastic casing, metal, glass, circuit boards and then processed.
What is entailed within the process of data-wiping of HDDs?
We use a software by the name of EBAN that data-wipes all information on HDDs. This process involves a complete reformat and 3-pass wipe.
How long does it take to organize a collection?
There tends to be a rapid turnover regarding collections, so realistically, a collection can occur with a day or few, once all is agreed upon by both parties involved. Usually, depending on the day, collection can be made within that week agreed upon.
Is there a minimum collection quantity?
We have a minimum collection of 20 items.
